Loss of Leadership - riderless horse oil painting

8X8 Oil on panel $125
Includes shipping and insurance in U.S.
SOLD to a collector in Queensland, Australia
One rein is broken; the other is trailing behind. I can't HELP but make an analogy to our current state of affairs. A horse loaded down with tack - but trailing reins, one broken - is in real trouble. He's hampered by the weight that he cannot remove himself, and since he's been cared for most of his life, finding food might become a problem, too. That rein he's dragging is a hazard, as well. Seems insignificant, but it could cause real problems. He COULD take care of himself without the shackles (taxes?).... See the analogy?
OK - off the soapbox. This is only a horse who lost his rider and now needs help finding his way home. But what about the rider???
Revelation 19:11
[ The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast ] I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.

Summer Siesta 2 - detailed

8 X 8 Oil on board $125
Includes shipping and insurance

I did this earlier with a lot more paint & less detail in anticipation of this more detailed version. I like both for different reasons...which is an analogy of why I own more than 1 horse. Each has his own purpose and joy. One is easy going, BIG, in the prime of life, never gets in a hurry, gets along with everyone, but doesn't know much (Easy). Another is older, very well trained, sometimes challenging, can go after a cow if needed and tolerates greenhorns taking a lesson on her (PJ). And the youngest (third) never gets upset about being taught new things, is totally fearless and never spooks, and is on the small side so grandchildren can get on her in the pasture (Dandy).

I guess there is a horse out there that can do and be everything - and if I had $20,000 I MIGHT be able to find it - though tall/short and young/experienced are hard to get in one package! Hence the need for three....

Dandy modeled for this portrait, but I painted her more of a Bay than the seal brown that she actually is.

Matthew 22:20-21 20and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?"

21"Caesar's," they replied.
Then he said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

Easy Through the Bluebonnets

5 X 7 Oil on Canvas Board $115
This painting was donated to benefit victims of crime in Erath County Texas

My talented friend, Trista, has again told me about someone who might be interested in Easy for an English riding prospect. I have always thought that this horse should be used like that, but I have made no real effort to pursue finding a rider/home for him. I SO enjoy watching him run and using him as a model. This young lady, however, wants to lease him as a "trial", and I am considering the proposition. I'm afraid she'll like him so much, though, that she'll actually purchase him. What to do, what to do. I don't mind lending him out to responsible people - it might actually be GOOD for him. I would still have PJ and Dandy for my eyes to enjoy. And I have drawn and painted him so much, that I can almost "do" him with my eyes closed.
When I turned him and Dandy loose into the south pasture Friday, they ran and ran the length of the field - at "cruise speed". Both of them seem to just barely move their feet and skim the surface of the earth to move at breakneck speed. If I was Hindu, I think coming back as a horse would almost be a step up - especially if I came back as a horse cared for my someone like me. And I would surely love the ability to run SOOOO fast!
