Cowboy John and Dallas

SOLD
I don't paint portraits very often, partly because most folks expect too much formality AND it's really easy NOT to achieve a likeness! I prefer portraits of people doing the things they love or in an attitude that is familiar to those that love them. This portrait of John Ross is both. He's a horse trainer friend who loves horses, loves teaching horses and loves teaching those who love horses. I've known him and his family for over a decade and have the utmost respect for his knowledge and his work ethic. This painting was intended to be a portrait of the horse for the woman who owns him - and it ended up being mostly about John...
Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
