Chicken Gourmet - Texas Coyote

5 X 7 Oil on Linen Panel $95
Includes shipping and insurance
If you follow this blog, you know we have chickens. You also know that while we were gone this summer, the "Great Chicken Massacre of 2010" occurred, wiping out 16 of my 22 hens and roosters. We are 99% sure it was coyotes and not stray dogs. Normally the coyotes are very shy and cautious, and we rarely see them during the day (they know we are gunning for them). I saw one 2 days ago, though, just down the road. I actually admire them for their cunning and beauty and only reluctantly approve shooting them when they come into our yard. This fellow was fat and healthy and appeared just as surprised as we were to see him.
I am going to continue new techniques and color palettes for the rest of the year. I have been partially inspired by an artist who was recently introduced to me. Her name is Susan Smolensky and you can find her HERE. Watch her work for a while and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
