Upsee Daysee

8 X 8 Oil on Canvas Panel Check with Artist for Availability
My adorable friend, Trista, has begun training Miss Dandy and I am so excited! Not only is Trista a terrific farrier, but she is an incredibly gifted rider and trainer as well. I have watched her ride her mare, Giza, without a bridle or saddle and get her to perform a number of maneuvers. This image is her jumping Tarragon, an Appaloosa gelding she trained - using only a halter.
I am going to trade her a painting for her work with Miss Dandy and this is just a preliminary color test. I have a feeling she will prefer her mare in the picture, but we haven't worked out the details yet.
If you are interested in this painting, Click here to send me an email.

The Eventer V - warmblood jumping horse oil painting

30 X 40 Oil on Gallery Canvas with painted sides
SOLD to a Canadian Collector

Well, I think I am about finished with this piece, and I am frustrated with photographing it. The colors are very rich and vibrant and it's nearly impossible to get that across on a computer screen.
Yesterday's record snowfall is half melted and I expect the rest will disappear today since the temperature is supposed to be in the 50's. What a mushy, muddy mess we have left behind. I went walking in the woods yesterday morning before it warmed up and got some lovely photos for the background of the next book cover. Thanks, Mother Nature!

Setting Up the Jump

SOLD
8 X 10 Oil on Canvas Panel

$165 includes shipping and insurance

Yesterday we spent an wonderful day at Rebbecca Farms in Kalispell, Montana. They were hosting a five day equestrian event and it was a real learning experience for this western-only-rider. The events were dressage, jumping and cross country and the competitors ranged from novice to Olympic USET (US Equestrian Team) contenders. We attended both dressage and cross-country competitions and I was able to get some fabulous photographs.
The owner of the farm is originally from Louisiana, like myself and she built this facility with the expressed intention of hosting such affairs. It was first-class, family and dog friendly, entertaining and enlightening. If I were younger, I would love to pursue acquiring the skills to ride in such a fashion. Not only were the horses impressive in their conditioning and abilities, but so were the riders.
